Phytoteraphotics on gynocology vitex agnus castus

In this study, the effects of V. agnus-castus berries on some gynecologic disorders have been searched and their chemical composition was analysed. V. agnus-castus berries were collected from the vicinities of Yargın/Mersin for this study. We first searched the literature on researches on the plant V. agnus-castus to evaluate the previous. In macroscobıc analyses of V. agnus castus berries we described the berry with a narrow pericarp and for locally as described in the European Pharmacopeie. In the chemical analyses we searched for the flavonoids, essential oils, saponins, tannins, some glycosides and alcaloids. The results of this study showed that the berries of V. agnuscastus are consistent to that of given in the European Pharmacopeie.
