Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determination of cardiovascular surgery intensive care unit nurses' competencies. The research was carried out in two stage the first being methodological and the second being descriptive. The validity and reliability studies were conducted of "Intensive and Critical Care Nursing Competence Scale- ICCN-CS1" in the methodological stage. At this stage, data were collected from 432 nurses working in the intensive care unit and critical care unit of the hospitals in Izmir. Data were collected between January 2 and May 31, 2015 using the nurse identification form and the Intensive and Critical Care Nursing Competency Scale. Descriptive research was conducted with 128 nurses working in the of cardiovascular surgery intensive care unit of hospitals in Istanbul. The data for this phase were collected August 2015 and between 02.01-30.04.2016 using the nurse identification form and the Intensive and Critical Care Nursing Competency Scale. In evaluation of the methodological stage data of this study; sociodemographic characteristics of the nurses are used for the number, percentage, and mean. Expert opinion has been consulted for content analysis of the scale and content analysis was found to be 0.99. An exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was performed for the construct validity of the scale. The scale was found to be three dimensions in the exploratory factor analysis. Factor load of the scale ranged from 0.31-0.75. As a result of confirmatory factor analysis the result of fıt indexes indicate that the scale has an acceptable goodness of fit for our country. The internal consistency cronbach alpha güvenirlik coefficient of the Intensive and Critical Care Nursing Competence Scale is 0.98. Datas of the descriptive stage of the study were evaluated using number, percentage, mean and standard deviation for the socio-demographic characteristics of the nurses, competency levels are number and percentage, the correlation between the independent variables and scale total score, spearman correlation analysis in categorical data and pearson correlation analysis in continuous data, multiple regression analysis in examining the factors affecting the competence levels of nurses, tolerances and variances inflammation factor in deciding to participate in the regression model in which the independent variables. In the study, it was found that nurses got 4.37 points from the scale point average and had good competency. Low difference was found between total scale score the age (r=0.185), marital status (t=2.74), education about intensive care given by the institution (t=3.521), working duration in nursing (r=0.257) and working duration in intensive care unit (r=0.341). As a result of this study, it was found that the Intensive and Critical Care Nursing Competency Scale was a valid and reliable measurement tool for our country to evaluate the competence of nurses in intensive care unit and critical care unit, nurses of cardiovascular surgery intensive care unit have good competence and difference competence between nurses' age, marital status, working time in nursing, working time in intensive care unit, intensive care education
