Usage of outsourcing in public hospitals the case of Bursa Public Hospital

VI ABSTRACT In today's competetive conditions, enterprises have to make innovations in order to sustain their economical progress and existence. Outsourcing is a new management method developed to produce cost advantage, effectiveness and high quality. Withoutsourcing enterprises can focus on their main businesses while transfering other activities to expert firms. Recently this strategy is also preferred by public hospitals. Public hospitals prefer outsourcing mainly in supporting services (e.g. catering, cleaning security). The benefit of outsourcing has been recognized, especially after the lecal obstacles was abolished. These development have made easier for public hospitals. Outsurcing in public hospitals started in secondary health services (radiology) as well as in supporting services as can be seen in the case of Bursa Devlet Hastanesi. It can be argued that in the near future outsourcing can be more popular. İn all secondary health services (labaaarotary, chemistery etc.) and human resources, outsorcing. The aim of outsourcing in public hospitals is to reduce the cost and increase the quality and customer satisfaction. Outsourcing helps hospital management to focus on main medical services instead of secondary services. However, in this study the outsourcing applications in Bursa devlet hastanesi have been exemined by using Fûtz analysis. Public hospitals benefit from outsourcing applications, with some problems. This study shows that the most likely problem areas are the position of offical employees and effectice control.
