Abstract (EN)
The changing and transforming needs of urban residents affect the ways of using public spaces, causing these areas to be restructured. In the arrangements made for the efficient use of public spaces, users' lifestyles, expectations from the public space, needs and daily life practices should be taken into account. This study examines the effects of planned changes made in public spaces on daily life practices and individual differences. Daily life occurs not only in planned spaces, but also in spaces formed by the interventions of users. Planned spaces are created by architects and urban planners according to a certain understanding of design and functionality. However, these places may not always be able to fully respond to the daily needs and preferences of users. Users adapt, rearrange and personalize the spaces according to their own needs. These interventions change the functionality and atmosphere of the space, making the daily lives of users more convenient. Therefore, when making changes in public spaces, it is necessary to understand the dynamics of daily life and analyze it in order to use the space effectively. The aim of this thesis is to examine how the planned interventions made in public spaces, as well as the daily life practices and interventions of users are shaped and how this interaction plays a role in the structure of public space. During the research process aimed at examining public spaces through planned changes and user interventions, the competition project prepared for Antalya Konyaaltı Coast was examined and interviews were conducted with its architects. While the interviews and research provided data on the planned changes, Chora's Urban Gallery method was used in the field study conducted for the purpose of examining user practices.
