Abstract (EN)
Background and Aim: This study was conducted to examine the relationship between postoperative recovery and well-being in patients who underwent colorectal surgery due to cancer. Material and Methods: His descriptive and correlation-seeking study was conducted with 110 patients who underwent colorectal surgery due to cancer. The data of the study were collected with the Personal Information Form, Postoperative Recovery Index and Integrative Well-Being Scale. The data were evaluated using descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis and Spearman Correlation analysis in SPSS 22.0 program. Values of p<0.05 were considered statistically significant. Results: It was determined that the difficulties experienced by the patients in postoperative recovery were moderate, the most difficulties were experienced in physical symptoms, and the least difficulties were experienced in psychological symptoms. In the postoperative period, the distressing emotions and disengagement dimensions were most affected in the patients' holistic well-being; It was determined that there was a relationship between the patients' age, gender, employment status, smoking status, previous surgical intervention, surgery type, number of postoperative days and stoma type and postoperative recovery status. There was a positive relationship between postoperative recovery and holistic well-being of patients who underwent colorectal surgery. Conclusion: There is a parallel relationship between postoperative recovery and holistic well-being of patients undergoing colorectal surgery. As the difficulties experienced in postoperative recovery increase, the holistic well-being of patients also deteriorates. During the treatment and care process of individuals who have undergone colorectal surgery due to cancer, it is recommended to implement nursing interventions that will improve the post-operative patient outcomes as well as their well-being, and to support the patients physically, psychologically and socially.
