Abstract (EN)

Natural convection in cavities is encountered in various engineering applications, such as heating and ventilating of living spaces, fire in buildings, solar thermal collector systems, electronic cooling devices, in storage of radioactive wastes. In this study, natural convection heat transfer in a square cavity with a fin mounted on a vertical wall has been performed numerically. Vertical boundaries are isothermal and horizontal boundaries are adiabatic. Two dimensional equations of conservation of mass, momentum and energy are solved through finite difference method. Results have been obtained for various geometrical parameters as the height, thickness and position of the partition and Rayleigh numbers. The partition is accepted as conductive. Heat transfer increases with increasing of Rayleigh number and flow field and temperature distribution are affected from the changing of Prandtl number and thermal conductivity coefficient is affected on temperature distribution.
