Abstract (EN)

Today, carbon footprint is at the heart of efforts to combat climate change globally and is considered a critical tool for individuals and organizations to minimize their environmental impact. These calculations provide a scientific basis for developing sustainability strategies and formulating climate policies, contributing to informed decisions to reduce carbon emissions. The current study purpose is to estimate the corporate carbon footprint to evaluate the environment impacts of a nursery that operates as a public institution. Therefore, following the IPCC guidelines, the emissions of the relevant organization due to electricity consumption, natural gas use, and fuel oil consumption resulting from nursery activities were observed. Also, the carbon footprint of the covered saplings within the nursery was calculated, the emission balance sheet of the organization was determined, and results and recommendations were presented to develop strategies to reduce CO₂ emissions. The results showed that the organization emits 524.347 EtCO₂e per year due to electricity consumption, 18.09 EtCO₂e per year due to natural gas consumption, and 1.083,06 EtCO₂e per year due to fuel oil consumption. These findings indicate that the organization should change its fuel consumption preferences and turn to renewable energy sources for natural gas and electricity consumption to minimize carbon emissions.
