Compilation of some works belonging to the Karabük region and examination of their musical characteristics

This study was conducted with the aim of presenting a general mode analysis of 8 folk songs compiled for the first time from the Karabük region. For this purpose, the musical notes of the folk songs from the Karabük region were collected from the local community, and the modal analyses of these songs were performed. A total of 8 songs were analyzed in terms of modes. In the mode analysis, factors such as the mode sequence, melodic characteristics, vocal range, and pitch usage were included in the analysis. The universe of the research consists of folk songs in Turkish folk music, and the sample is composed of folk songs from the Karabük region. The "scanning technique" from descriptive research methods was utilized in the data collection process. Content analysis technique was employed in the analysis of the data. The findings were presented in tabular form, interpreted, and thus, Turkish music modes were revealed. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the modes that are currently popular in terms of their application and usage are still in use. It is anticipated that this study will guide future research in the field.
