Determination of the distrubution and habitat types of roe deer(Capreolus capreolus)in Kastamonu

Conserving wild animals with their habitats in optimum level and protecting them from illegal hunting is our goal for wildlife conserving studies. Species under the class of Ruminantia are very popular for hunting activities. For this reason species under this class are hunting where they exist. Roe deer (Capreolus capreolus L,1758) is the smallest deer species of Cervidae family in Turkey. Roe deer (Capreolus capreolus L,1758) is very popular for hunting. This study is the first study for determining the habitat types of roe deer for our country. For determining the habitat areas, results of interviews conducted with hunters and local people, direct observations on field, inventory records of Directorate of Turkish National Parks were used. Results were analyzed using digital map softwares. This thesis will contribute to literature and will be a scientific basis for following studies.
