The reproduction biology of Mastacembelus simack (walbaum,1792) habiting in Karakaya dam lake

ABSTRACT THE REPRODUCTION BIOLOGY OF MASTACEMBELUS SIMACK (SVALBAVM, 1792) HABITING IN KARAKAYA DAM LAKE, MALATYA Masters Thesis Mücahit ERO?LU Fırat University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Aquaculture 2004, Page: 47 In this study, the sexual maturity, reproduction period and fecundity of Mastacembelus simack (Walbaum, 1792) habiting in Karakaya Dam Lake, Malatya were determined between February 2002 and January 2003. It has been found that males reached sexual maturity in age II whereas female reached in age I and thus their reproduction period was in June - July. The correlations between body weight - ovarium weight (r = 0,18), body weight - testis weight (r = 0,56), body length - ovarium weight (r = -0,18), body length - testis weight (r = -0,10) were determined. The relations of eggs number - body weight (0,78), egg numbers - body length (r - 0,83), egg numbers - ovarium weight (r = 0,34), egg numbers - egg diameters (r = -0,13), age grup - eggs diameter (r = 0,18) were respectively.
