Dirty money and effective combating money laundering

DIRTY MONEY AND EFFECTIVE COMBATING MONEY LAUNDERINGAdile OZORTAKABSTRACTWhen we look at the crime arena of today, we see that organized and financial crimesexhibit rising. So, in a globalized world, the criminals become more organised to act for theirorganisation.One of the main motivators of the crime organisations which appear as a revolt againstgovernment authority or under the known name of organised crime organisations is themoney. Such kind of organisations earn some revenue from the illegal activities which theyperform and need financial sources to perform new crimes and activities. This revenue whichis known as dirty money, is tried to have seen as a legal revenue and this transformation ismentioned as money laundering.In the first section of the study which is offered as master thesis, we tried to examinethat the dirty money is the kind of revenue which is earned from the illegal activities and howthis revenue is legalized and included in the financial system.In the second section, the relation of dirty money with the unrecorded economy andorganised guiltiness, the battle of money laundering in the international arena.In the last section, the crime of dirty money in the Turkish Law, the creature of moneylaundering in Turkey, the battle of money laundering in Turkey and the dirty money crimethat its name is changed as cleaning the assets sourced from crime by the effect of 5237numbered Turkish Crime Law are tried to examine.
