Career development in motivation and a research in five star hotel companies

Ill ABSTRACT For the hotel business, personnel motivation is very important from the managerial success and customer satisfaction point of view. Motivation is a concept related closely to the personnel's desires, needs and expectations. In other words, it is necessary to know about the personnel's desires, needs and expectations in order to motivate them. Another concept about the personnel's desires and expectations is carrier development. Carrier development has an important role to determine the expectations of the personnel and also to provide the organisation-personnel integration. With an idea of carrier development is an effective method for the personnel motivation, a survey has been applied in Istanbul to the five star hotel companies' food and beverage department personnel. The results of the research show that the hotel companies apply most of the activities related to carrier development and carrier development has a positive effect on personnel motivation.
