Abstract (EN)

The use of nonlinear analysis in the time history domain, which is the best method for determining the seismic behavior of the structure, has become widespread thanks to the development of packaged software and the increase in the calculation capabilities of computers while designing and/or evaluating the performance of structures. The acceleration records used in the nonlinear analysis should most accurately represent the seismicity of the region in order to accurately predict the building behavior. Today, in earthquake codes, definitions related to acceleration records to be used in time history analysis are included. In this study, steel planar frames that varies in terms of geometry and connection types were added to the reinforced concrete planar frames, which consist of two parts, and the seismic behavior of these frames were investigated. The acceleration records used in the analyses were selected in accordance with the regulations defined in the 2018 Turkish Building Earthquake Code. Steel planar frames with a certain geometry were designed alonein accordance with current seismic design code. The variation in the seismic behavior of steel planar frames when used at top floors of a reinforced concrete frame were investigated through a comparison of displacements and shear forces. The comparison of displacement profiles presented that the roof displacement increases as the number of steel floors increases. It was observed that hinged connections force the reinforced concrete frame less and cause less displacement to the reinforced concrete frame. In addition, it was observed that the relative floor drift increase in the hinged floor is higher than the other steel floors.
