Evaluating the open-space area system in Kastamonu city centre and mapping on GIS environment

The aim of this study is to measure the adequecy of the open and green area, the children playground and the sports fields being in Kastamonu city center park areas on the neighborhood-based. In the literature part of the study, basic definitions such as green area, children playground were given, and general information about the situation of these areas in the world, in Turkey and in Kastamonu was given. Within the scope of the study, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) was also used, and in line with the analyzes, 46 park areas within the borders of Kastamonu province were evaluated. Green area quantities of 19 districts forming the Kastamonu city center were determined, and based on this information and the population data, the adequacy levels were discussed by determining the average status of the park areas, children playground areas and outdoor sports fields. In the last part of the study, how the number of park areas for each district can be increased within the plan was discussed.
