Abstract (EN)

In parallel with the increase in the amount of solid waste as a result of the rapid increase in human population and consumption in the world, there are significant environmental problems especially in urban areas. This is caused by pollution of the soil due to heavy metal accumulation in the soil as a result of domestic or industrial wastes. In this study, heavy metal concentrations (Ni, Co, Mn, Cr, Cd, Pb, Cu, Zn, Mo, Fe and Al) in the soil of the woody (black pine, acacia) and herbaceous (mustard) species collected from the Wild Storage area in the city of Kastamonu where domestic wastes were collected, intended for evaluation. The concentration of heavy metals was determined using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). According to the results obtained; Ni, Co, Cr, Fe concentrations were highest in black pine needles and leaves of herbaceous species; Cu and Al concentrations were most observed in the leaves of acacia and herbaceous species. Cu, Mo, Fe concentrations were the highest in plant-soil parts taken at near point, Cd and Pb concentrations were highest in plant-soil taken from very close point. Ni, Zn and Co concentrations did not change at different distances. However, the results show that waste dump sites contribute significantly to the environment, and therefore need to concentrate and recycle waste to reduce the amount of these toxic metals in landfills.
