Abstract (EN)

Polymeric materials are widely used due to their advantages. It is a quite common in polymers to be used as insulation materials and to use additives to improve mechanical and electrical strength. In this thesis, polyester resin is used as a polymeric material. In the study, firstly, the samples are subjected to the IEC 60587 inclined plane tracking test to examine the effect of additive materials and their ratios on the electrical properties of polyester resin. The additive materials used in this study are boric acid, boron oxide, borax pentahydrate, silicon carbide and alumina. In this regard, the deterioration times of polyester resin samples produced at 2%, 1% and 0.5% additive rates are examined by applying inclined plane tracking test . The aim of this thesis study is to examine the effect of the material's particle size, percentage of purity, additive ratio, density and production conditions on its durability. All samples are produced in the laboratory, and the particle sizes of boron compounds are measured with a digital microscope and presented as a table. In the second part of the study, impedance measurement, loss factor and capacity measurement are conducted at specific frequency values in order to determine the dielectric properties of the polyester resin samples. The frequency values determined in the study were chosen between 10 Hz and 300 kHz and their graphs are given accordingly. In the third stage of the study, the polyester resin samples are subjected to hydrophobicity tests. Thus, the water resistances of produced samples are examined and the contact angle values are interpreted. It has been tried to determine the factors on which the contact angle depends on
