Abstract (EN)

Breast cancer is among the most common types of cancer all over the world, and researchers are conducting laboratory studies for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer all over the world. In this study, the effect of curcumin and vitamin C combined with the chemotherapeutic agents Doxorubicin and 5-Fluorouracil used in the treatment of breast cancer on cell viability and ex-pression of TNF-, IL-6, IL-10 in a breast cancer cell line MCF-7 has been researched. As a result of the MTT test performed to determine the cytotoxic effect, the cell viability was 52.7% in 1000 mikromolar curcumin application, 53.3% in 100 mikromolar doxorubicin application, 47.1% in 500 mikromolar 5-fluorouracil application, and 500 mikromolar in vitamin C application it was determined to be 62.2%. It was observed that cell viability decreased by 28% and 30% in the combined applications of curcumin with Doxorubicin and 5-Fluorouracil, but no such effect was observed in the experi-mental groups where chemotherapy agents were combined with vitamin C. As a result of Elisa analyzes to determine the expressions of TNF-alpha, IL-6, IL-10, 52% IL-6 expression was ob-served in cells treated with curcumin, while IL-6 levels decreased to 15% in other experimental groups. No significant change was detected in TNF-alpha and IL-10 expressions.
