Abstract (EN)

Self-determination, one of the concepts of international law, is well-established but at the same time whose content and scope are highly controversial. Today, a group, which can be identified as a people, would exercise a reasonable internal self-determination at least even if it does not have the external right to self-determination. By virtue of the right to self-determination, a legitimate secession right does not exist for the citizens of Republic of Turkey with Kurdish origin; however, internal self-determination would offer Kurdish people an opportunity to demand a status, by which they can pursue economic, social and cultural development.
