Abstract (EN)

The general aim of this study is to examine the relationships between self-satisfaction, psychological symptoms (depression, anxiety, somatization), sense of coherence, and family sense of coherence. In line with this general aim, the mediating roles of the sense of coherence and the family sense of coherence in the relationship between self-satisfaction and psychological symptoms were examined in the context of these relations. The sample of the study consisted of university students aged 18 and over and adults from various profession groups and quantitative research methods were used in the study. In the study, the Self-Satisfaction Scale was used to measure the self-satisfaction levels of individuals; Brief Symptom Inventory was used to measure the levels of psychological symptoms (depression, anxiety, somatization); Sense of Coherence Scale was used to measure the sense of coherence; Finally, the Family Sense of Coherence Scale was used to measure the family sense of coherence. In addition, the Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher was used in order to understand the demographic characteristics of the participants, and the data obtained were described in the study. Relationships between variables were tested using the Structural Equation Model (SEM). The descriptive statistics of the data used in the study were analyzed with the SPSS 25.0 package program, and the measurement model and the structural model were tested with the Mplus 8.0 package program. As a result of the research, it was determined that there were positive and significant relationships between self-satisfaction, the sense of coherence and the family sense of coherence, while there were negative significant relationships between these three variables and psychological sypmtoms. In the structural model, it was concluded that self-satisfaction directly predicted psychological symptoms. When the sense of coherence and the family sense of coherence were included separately or together in the relationship between these two variables, it was observed that the predictive power of self-satisfaction to psychological symptoms decreased, but self satisfaction's predictive power was still significant. In line with these findings, it has been determined that the sense of coherence and family sense of coherence are both partial mediators and multiple mediators in the relationship between self-satisfaction and psychological symptoms. Self-satisfaction indirectly predicts psychological symptoms through both the sense of coherence and the family sense of coherence. In addition to all findings, self-satisfaction directly predicts the sense of coherence and the family sense of coherence. The sense of coherence and the family sense of coherence also directly predicts psychological symptoms.
