Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to investigate buildings? solar exposure in the existing urban texture in Elazıg. For this purpose we implemented an application study on some specific points which exist on Gazi, Sehit 1lhanlar and 1nönü Streets and some branch streets which have a remarkable structural density. In the application study, first we calculated the lengths of shadows falled on the facades of buildings and then we calculated SVF values of the specific points. For the last step we measured surface temperatures of building facades for chosen points for the hours between 8.00-16.00 to investigate the relation between street geometry and surface temperature in the urban canyon. Rayman 1.2 program and fisheye photos were used to calculate SVF values. Flir Thermacam was used to measure surface temperatures. Calculations for shadow lengths of building façade?s were made for 21th of January while measurements for surface temperature were made on 21th of March. For every specific point we created sections which give the building height and street width. Results for shadow lengths and SVF values are presented on tables. The relation between street geometry and surface temperature is shown on grapics. The appropriate street widths and building heights are calculated and necessary SVF values to benefit from solar radiation are determined for main (Gazi, Sehit 1lhanlar, 1nönü) streets. Keywords: Appropriate Street Width, Shadow Length, Sky View Factor, Surface Temperature
