Context of the urban ecology studies about kucukcekmece lake and around

In present time, Urbanism and industrialized activities create some impressions on placeswhich have got natural, cultural and historical values, have got high recreation potential andecological values. Küçükçekmece Lake and its surrounding is one of the places which livesthe most negative impressions.At that point, for Küçükçekmece Lake and its surrounding need strategies which will providedetermination of local and ecological potations, sustaining of these potations, usage in themost effective way, right decisions in true land use and the most suitable economic landchoice; better life conditions; a healthy process of social-cultural-economic actions, activitiessocial life and minimization of the negative effects of these mutual intersections to theenvironment….etc. ; must be determined for the Küçükçekmece Lake and its surrounding.In this study; Küçükçekmece and its surrounding are examined the regarding the urbanecology. In this research; ecology, definitions and notions about urban ecology, natural andcultural factors that form urban ecology and the effects of these factors to the cities and theproblems they cause are evoborated. Küçükçekmece Lake and its surrounding examinatedcontext urban ecology according to these evolutions. By examining the sample in theresearch, the lack of serious ecologic planning and strategies developed for areas which haveecological potential; the lack of ecological and continuous approachings which include usageof the natural resources, protection and continuously active usage of natural and culturalresources; which the urban has. In increasing the quality urban life; seeing the urban as anecological being, determining the strategies of urban development; obligation of considerationfor need of ecological adoption; in social and industrial scale; is being told.Key words: Urban ecology, lagoon, ecosystem, urban ecosystem, basin
