Sustainable management of urban parks example of Bursa Mihraplı Park

Urban parks, which have a great importance in terms of urban ecology, are areas where users meet the needs of recreation, entertainment, evaluation of free time, social and cultural activities are carried out and interact. With the rapid urbanization processes, there are difficulties in creating new parking areas in cities that are growing in population and area. In addition to the difficulty of creating new parking spaces in today's cities, there are problems with maintaining existing parking spaces. Incomplete or improper management of parks, structural and plant obsolescence, reflection of changes in the urban fabric where parks are located on the park are just some of the problems mentioned. There are also examples of the world where urban parks, which have been a part of our lives throughout history and are areas of socialization and physical and spiritual recovery for people from all parts of the society we live in, have been managed efficiently and have remained to this day. In this context, the Royal parks of England, which can be described as a good example, have been managed with management plans throughout the historical process and have survived to the present day. Within the scope of the research, the general characteristics of Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, Richmond Park, which are located in the Royal Parks of England, were examined in terms of management structures and a comparative analysis of management plans was made. The results obtained from the research were evaluated in order to maintain the quality standards of the Bursa Mihraplı Park located in the province of Bursa and to develop a management model for the sustainability of urban parks. As a result of the study, an effective park management structure model has been proposed for Bursa Mihraplı Park, in which the participation of central government, local government, non-governmental organizations and volunteers will be ensured. The aim of the study is to be an example for ensuring the sustainable management and protection of urban parks located in fast-growing cities of Turkey such as Bursa.
