Abstract (EN)
Urbanization continues rapidly from the past to the present. The urban transportation problem in the cities has limited the comfortable movement of the people in the city on foot. The well-being of people in the city is based on a complex network of interrelated transport systems and the places that this transport system delivers. In the plans made in recent years, we encounter designs in which vehicle transportation is at the forefront and pedestrian transportation is left in the background. With these plans, it is aimed to provide a solution for the problem by making pedestrianization projects in areas with high population density in order to provide pedestrian circulation in cities with high population and to reduce the density of urban vehicle transportation. Siirt, which is in the process of urbanization, with its increasing population and growing and developing, this development of the existing transportation systems and infrastructures is not sufficient for growth. The roads, transportation system and parking lots in the city center are not sufficient for the population. When we look at the general transportation planning of Siirt, Gures Avenue is the first and only pedestrian road of the city on the transportation axis. Gures Street is a road that prevents the flow of vehicle transportation as it is used as a pedestrian road. In the transportation planning of the city, Gures Street is directly or indirectly connected to all roads in the north-south direction. In the past years, the road with the highest density of vehicles, which we can call the backbone of transportation, was Gures Street. While it is a necessary planning decision to have a pedestrian road in Siirt, it is not a correct decision to make an application of the road location without a transportation master plan. By looking at the current transportation system of Siirt province, observations, on-site photo shoots and a survey study based on these, solutions were found in line with the observed errors, deficiencies and problems and new planning decisions were made. The current situation of the street is analyzed by going down to Güres Street, which is the only pedestrian road of the province, from the transportation system; for the benefit of the living people, their demands; In line with certain analyzes and determinations, the accuracy of the current use as a pedestrian road was questioned, and solution suggestions were made for existing problems, pedestrian road location selection and plan decisions were made according to the results.
