Outdoor urban design and competence of wheelchair development opportunities for users: Ordu city center case

The disabled who are inseparable from the society have a lot of problems in daily life.One of the most important problem they meet is the application in outdoor places in the cities.The disabled can not go around easily without any help because of the limited places for their needs .To make them easily move around in the streets. We have to consider their needs so that they can be able to live as we do in social life.Urban locations should be built by considering their conditions and by creating the same chance for the disabled. By doing this we can provide the equality for all the people in the society.In this survey, the difficulties which the people have with wheelchairs in the city centre of Ordu is investigated in terms of urban design. Particularly accessibility to the physical locations ,using and leaving the locations and the restraints were analysed in a questionnaire.At the end of the survey some projects were presented which gives the change of moving around easily for the disabled using wheelchairs in the locations of city centre of Ordu.
