The impacts of urban development plans on natural structure in case of Adana

In this research, the impacts of urban development on natural environment was investigated in the case of the city Adana. For this purpose, primarily the natural structure of the city and its vicinity were examined and then the city?s spatial development has been evaluated in a historical process. The city's current environmental problems caused by use of spatial development have been tried to be determined with taking into account the most recent development plan which was prepared in 2008.In the study, ?risk analysis? was applied for solution of mentioned problems based on production of plan decision. The weighted score method using with ArcView program 9.2, risk areas have been identified in terms of urbanization with taking into consideration the basic usage of the results of risk analysis on urbanization and natural resources. Obtained results are interpreted in conjunction with the city's current development plan.As a result of this investigation proposals have been developed for minimizing the impact of development plans on natural resources.Key words: Urban development, Urban development plan, Adana city, GIS
