The evaluation of drinking water about biological, physical, chemical and water pollution in Kirkuk province

Water quality parameters of Kerkuk city were analysed according to various standart methods for six months and evaluation of results was made considering the drinking water quality. Study period includes Kirkuk Province the water before treatment plant (raw water) and the water after treated, the water supplied to different parts of the city for six months, according to some physical, chemical and biological properties were investigated. As a result of residual chlorine it on standard terms and high turbidity values were observed occasionally. The microbiological analysis result of water samples (treatment plant before entering) total mesophilic aerobic bacteria count higher than total coliform bacteria count is found and total coliform bacteria count, higher than fecal coliform bacteria count was found. As a result of microbiological analysis, water samples (resulting from treatment plants) of total mesophilic bacterium count no abnormal changes were observed, but in the total coliform bacteria in the months of June and July to the end of the 5 th station had been identified as abnormal. Also fecal coliform bacteria in July last in the 5 th station were identified as abnormal when compared with standards. Key Words: Iraq, Kirkuk, Environment, Water pollution, Bacteria
