Abstract (EN)
The Mamluk State played a critical role in the historical development process as an important power center in the Middle Ages. Ruling over a vast geography covering Egypt, Syria and Hejaz between 1250-1517, the Mamluks constituted an important political and military power, especially in the Islamic world. After the weakening of the Abbasids, the Mamluks conquered Egypt and filled a huge gap both politically and culturally. At the same time, the Mamluks, known for their resistance against the Crusades, played a decisive role in shaping the Middle East by defeating the Mongols at the Battle of Ayn Goliath in 1260. The Mamluks, who developed a unique system that combined military discipline and government administration, were an extremely important representative of the period in terms of both military and cultural heritage. The Mamluks, who were very important in terms of Turkish history in Egypt and later divided into Bahri Mamluks (1250-1382) and Burji Mamluks (1382-1517), were effective in the establishment and spread of Turkish culture until the Ottoman conquest of Egypt. Leysi Çelebi's Keşfü'l-Ğumem Fi Tarihi'l-Ümem is an important source on Ottoman history and the history of the Islamic world. This work stands out as a comprehensive study of Islamic history and the chronological development of various civilizations. Leysi Çelebi discusses the history, social structure, political developments and cultural evolution of different Islamic societies and provides in-depth analyses of the major political events of the period. As a text enriched with historical data as well as the author's own observations and interpretations, Keşfü'l-Ğumem occupies an important place in Ottoman historiography. At the same time, Çelebi's work contributed to the formation of historical consciousness in Ottoman intellectual circles and provided historical references for subsequent generations. The work not only conveys historical information, but also serves as a great source for understanding the cultural and political heritage of the Islamic world before the Ottoman Empire. His translation of Leysi Çelebi's Keşfü'l Ğumem Fi Tarihi'l Ümem, which he translated into Ottoman Turkish, provides detailed and important information on Mamluk history. The work provides information about the principalities of Anatolian cities, the internal affairs of the Mamlūk State of Egypt, the Battle of Ridaniye, the Battle of Elbistan, the relations with the principalities of Karamanids, Dulkadirids, Ramazanids and the Battle of Ayn-ı Goliath with the Mongols.
