Kilis folk medicine

The biggest problem people suffer has always been the health problems. Therefore, people have always searched treatment for diseases. They created a non-written source by narrating beneficial treatment methods from one generation to another. Thus, a cultural structure called folk medicine emerged. The basic treatment was carried out by folk medicine methods until the modern medicine has developed enough to capture this field. In Kilis Folk Medicine, herbs set off the fundamental of application. Beside this, there are some other items and beliefs in treatment methods. Herbalists, shrines, bonesetters can be regarded as treatment places. Even though folk medicine lost its popularity with the development of modern medicine in 20th century, it began to attract people again in 21st century. The reason for this is that the side effects of medical treatment methods are excessive and sometimes the medicine is ineffective against the diseases.
