Abstract (EN)
In this study, Reactive Red 198 was tried to be removed from wastewater by adsorption method using chitosan obtained from shrimp shells. The effect of pH, temperature, dye concentration and particle size on adsorption was investigated. The optimum pH for adsorption was determined as 5. The effect of the temperature was negative and it was observed that the adsorption capacity of chitosan decreased as the temperature increased. When the effect of the initial dye concentration on the adsorption was examined, the adsorption values of chitosan under 150 mesh sieve and over sieve at 200 mg/L dye concentration were 197.38 mg/g and 196.22 mg/g, respectively. At 100 mg/L dye concentration, adsorption values of 150 mesh sieve and over sieve chitosan were determined as 97.41 mg/g and 96.10 mg/g, respectively. Reactive Red 198 was easier to adhere to because the adsorption surface area expanded with the reduction of the particle size of the chitosan. According to the results of the study, it is seen that the isotherm model of adsorption realized as monolayer is suitable for Langmuir isotherm model. According to the results of the study, it is seen that the isotherm model of adsorption realized as monolayer is suitable for Langmuir isotherm model. Maximum adsorption capacity (Qmax) of Langmuir isotherm was calculated as 500 mg/g. Pseudo-Second Order conformity was determined in kinetic model.
