Abstract (EN)

In this study, powder cithosan was grafted by using atom transfer radical graft copolymerization, with some vinyl monomers. In the former, prymer OH groups of powder cithosan was first reacted with chloroacetylchloride. Then by using cithosan with chloroacetyl group as macroinitiator, it was graft with methacrylamide (MAM), diacetone acrylamide (DAAM), 4-nitrophenyl acrylamide (NFAA), hydroxyethyl methacrylamide (HEMA) in the presence of CuBr/1,2-dipiperidinoethane as catalyst system. The graft copolymers were characterized by elementel analysis and IR techniques.Thermal stabilities and thermal transition temperatures of all the graft copolymers were investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). In addition, in vitro antioxidants and antitumour properties of graft copolymers obtained from cithosan were determined, and the results were discussed.Key Words : Chitosan, Graft Copolymer, Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization
