Abstract (EN)

In this study, powder chitosan was grafted by using atom transfer radical graft copolymerization, with acrylamide (AA), methacrylamide (MAM) and diacetoneacrylamide (DAAM) monomers. With this method, primary OH groups of powder chitosan was first reacted with chloracetylchloride. Then by using chitosan with chloracetyl group as macroinitiator, it was graft with acrylamide (AA), methacrylamide (MAM) and diacetoneacrylamide (DAAM), in the presence of 2,2'-bipyridine /CuCl as catalyst system. The graft copolymers were characterized by elementel analysis and IR techniques. In addition, Cu2+, Co2+, Ni2+ and Cd2+ metal ions uptake properties of graft copolymers obtained from chitosan were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry, and the results were discussed.
