A research on phenotypic relationship and growth curves related to some growth characteristics in hair goat

Pages In this study, it was aimed to determine to the phenotypic relationships between some growth characteristics. The research was conducted in the Kovanlık Village of Antalya at the farm conditions. Animal material of the research was 58 hair goat of which 28 female and 30 male. Correlation coefficients between live weight and some morphometric measurments calculated in females and males respectively ; the wither height 0.958, 0.943 ;? body length 0.963, 0.908 ; depth of breast 0.968, 0.929 ; round of breast 0.973, 0.951 ; width of breast behind scapula 0.812,0.924 and round of rump 0.971,0.964. Repeatabilities of the same characteristics in females and males are also determined as follows resp. ; live weight 0.73, 0.67 ; the wither height- 0.56, 0.63 ; body length 0.40, 0.52 ; depth of breast 0.57, 0.49 ; round of breast 0.70, 0.67 ; width of breast behind scapula 0.57, 0.57 and round of rump 0.61, 0.62. In this study, it was also calculated canonical correlation coefficients between variable sets and fitting growth curves to express changes in live weight depending on time in males and females. Gompertz growth model was used to fit the growth curve. As a result of the analysis, all correlations calculated between variables sets were found high and significantly (P<0.01). It was also determined that, gompertz growth model was satisfactorily expressed to explain the growth curve of the live weight in females and males.
