Abstract (EN)

In this study, the Biofilm forming K. pneumoniae were isolated from 100 clinical and food samples. Most of the isolates were antibiotic resistant and biofilm producers. Three phenotypic tests (Congo Red Agar, Tube method or Christensen's and Microtiter plate assay) were used to determine the biofilm-forming ability. Results revealed that 15 (83.33%) clinical and 16 (76.19%) foodborne K. pneumoniae isolates produced biofilms. Biofilm coding gene mrk A was detected by amplification in PCR assay for both clinical and food origin isolates of K. pneumoniae. The specific primers designated in this study. The results showed that all the clinical isolates (100%) and eight food origin K. pneumoniae isolates (53.33%) harbored the biofilm coding gene mrk A based on the results of PCR amplification with an amplicon size of 457 base pair.
