Abstract (EN)

In this study, the individual and co-gasification of Turkish coals (Çan and Tunçbilek) with treated (biomass hydrolysates) and untreated biomass (sorghum, kenaf) were performed and the experimental conditions for obtaining maximum total gas and hydrogen gas yield were investigated. Maximum total gas and hydrogen production from individual gasification of coal and co-gasification of coal (Çan) with biomass and biomass hydrolysates were obtained at a feed flow rate of 0.5 mL min-1 (water or biomass hydrolyzate) and temperature of 900°C. The total gas volumes and hydrogen volumes from the co-gasification experiments were greater than the arithmetical sum of the gas volumes obtained from the individual gasification of the species of the coal (Çan)/biomass or coal (Çan)/biomass hydrolysate mixtures. The total gas volume obtained from the co-gasification of 1 gram of untreated sorghum/coal mixture increased by 720 mL with 590 mL hydrogen, while a total gas increase of 1121 mL with 790 mL of hydrogen gas was observed from the co-gasification of the coal/sorghum hydrolysates. Using biomass hydrolysate instead of untreated biomass was more effective in terms of total gas and hydrogen gas yield.
