Abstract (EN)
Nowadays especially in urbanized areas, there is a rising need for deep excavations civil engineering applications. Providing stability in deep excavations is also an important geotechnical issue. Numerous analytical and numerical methods have been proposed in the literature on the design of retaining structures built for providing excavation stability. In this study, different analytical methods related to the lateral soil pressures and design of retaining structures has been investigated. For this purpose, numerical analyzes were performed using the finite element method based two-dimensional geotechnical software Plaxis 2D. Mathematica was used in the evaluation of the analytical approaches given in the literature. In the study, parameters such as excavation depth, pile embedment depth, pile rigidity, soil strength, and soil model were considered as variables and the bending moments were determined after each analysis. Then, the findings from comparison of the numerical and analytical results were interpreted.
