Abstract (EN)

This study investigates the effectiveness and applicability of the Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) method for determining the subsurface geometry in uncontrolled filling areas. The application of the ERT method in uncontrolled filling areas, such as the İzmir Pancar Organized Industrial Zone (O.I.Z.), is thoroughly examined and compared with the existing literature. A total of 8 profiles were used to create 2D and 3D subsurface models based on the electrical resistivity data obtained from Wenner and Wenner-Schlumberger arrays. The mathematical and computational methods required for the creation of these models were addressed. Using the acquired electrical resistivity data, information about the subsurface geometry of İzmir Pancar OIZ was obtained, and this information was interpreted through various analyses. The presence of landfill material was observed within the first 6 meters from the surface. The results of this study provide significant insights into the effectiveness and practical use of the ERT method in identifying the subsurface geometry of uncontrolled landfill sites, and they are expected to guide future research in this field.
