Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effects of using aluminium sulphate on a defined proportion to the plywood panels produced from ekaba (Tetraberlinia bifoliolata) and poplar (Populus eureamericana) on mechanical properties and formaldehyde emission have been investigated.Plywood samples are provided from ekaba and poplar coverings that are in 80×80 cm dimensions in relation with the objective of the research in a way that four 3 layer plywoods can be produced from them. For both experiments at least twenty samples are determined by considering taking pieces big enough to be used in emission measurement. The samples are produced by ure-formaldehyde glue by adding % 0-5-10-20 aluminium sulphate material to the glue. Mechanical experiments are done on the 3 layer ekaba and poplar samples that were prepared before. Furthermore, the differences which occur in the formaldeyhde emission are determined.Consequently, in this study clear increases are observed between the shear-tensile strength and bending strength of control plywood panels and plywood panels manufactured with the glue mixture containing different amount of aluminium sulphate. Formaldehyde emission results are observed to decrease.
