Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the assumption that houses where people spend most of their lives should be designed with a biophilic design approach and that people's psychological, sociological and biological needs develop positively in houses designed with this design approach is discussed. The term biophilia is a concept arising from the fields of philosophy and psychology. The concept of biophilia appears in architecture with various dimensions and approaches in order to repair the relationship between nature and the built environment. Nature has always been a source of inspiration for architects; throughout history, works inspired by nature and containing traces of nature have been carried out. Within the scope of the research, it is mentioned that the importance given to nature-friendly building design should increase as a result of the ever-increasing developments. The study focuses on the necessity of designing today's housing design in the light of biophilic design approaches, starting from the emergence of the term biophilia, and includes an evaluation of the extent to which the Sedat Gürel House, built in 1971, incorporates these design approaches.
