Abstract (EN)
All products circulated in the market have the value of exchange, use and prestige in thecapitalistic economy. Housing, like any other market-driven product or service, thereforeturned out to be a product of exchange, use and prestige. Housing provides an identity andsocial status to consumers, and for this reason it plays an important role in establishingrelationships with other individuals in public. As a result, housing is not only the mostimportant basic need of individuals but also is an indication of social status in publicplatforms. This study attempts to evaluate gated communities and their relationship withpublic platforms. In this study, private and public platform interactions were examined in thecontext of the production-consumption interrelationships that determine all dimensions ofpeople and product interrelationship in a civil society. The first section provides insight into the content and the objectives of the study. In the second section, the transition period of goods or services from individualisticproduction into mass consumption was evaluated. This evaluation was made within theborders of the interrelationships between people with products and people in public platformsthat are formed by the production-consumption interrelationships. In the third section, the separation (break-off) of private and public lives as a result of thechanges in production and consumption interrelationships and the severance of housing frompublic relations is examined. The fact that people have become more consumption-oriented toacquire social status and prestige due to the change in production and consumptioninterrelationship are explored. In the forth section of the study, the gated communities and public platform interrelationshipis investigated in two parts: before 1980 and after 1980. Especially after the 1980s, gatedcommunities have become the most popular housing in the market. Therefore the study takesthe relationship of people with housing and also with other people into account in the conceptof private and public platforms. Finally, in the fifth section of the study, the results of previous sections are presented. Keywords: Production-Consumption Interrelationships, Private-Public Platforms, Housing,Gated Communities
