Abstract (EN)

Analyzing the public building stock in Turkey, mosques are observed in majority. The crucial point in this production practice is that, innovative discourse and ideas in architecture are not reflected in the mosque architecture of these constructions. In parallel with that condition of mosque architecture in Turkey, continuous self-historicist, repetition and mimicking a style, "designer" is devoid of unqualified return to the nuances of the stack structure. This production practice, which is made with the assumption that religious structures are adopted by the society, brings with the production methods of mosque architecture. It is seen that spatial and formal elements are dominant when examining the imitation components which cause mimicry in the mosque architecture and make it difficult to get out of the existing construction in terms of design. When we call or hear word "mosque", that image usually comes to mind; a building is covered by a dome, a minaret, and a large volume of worshipers. Believers or non-believers revive the worship of Islamic religion in this fiction. Although there is no limitation or condition according to the Koran; this perception of worship is undoubtedly due to the architectural style that has lasted for many years. This style is the most important factor that people place in their memories; it is made up of Ottoman period religious structures which reveal the expression of an empire and Mimar Sinan, who announced his name in the world about the mosque architecture. These structures, which reveal the present typology of today, cause the appearance of imitations of the effect on the mosque architecture.
