Abstract (EN)

Researching the Effects of Different Dose Ketamine and Propofol Combinations on Cardiorespiratory System and Intraocular Pressure in Dogs Aim: This study aims to research the effects of different dose mixtures of Ketamine (K) and Propofol (P) on the cardiorespiratory system and intraocular pressure, in dogs. Material and Method: 28 healthy male dogs were randomly divided into 4 groups. The groups were randomized for administration of P, KP 1:1, KP 1:2, KP 1:3 ratios for induction with Total Intravenous Anestehesia (TIVA). 0.6 mg/kg/min Propofol for group P, 0.3 mg/kg/min KP for group KP were administered for the maintenance of anesthesia. Dogs were intubated and spontaneously breathed room air. Baseline intraocular pressure (IOP), heart rate (HR), respirator rate (RR), rectal temperature (RT), mean arterial blood pressure (MAP), peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2), end-tidal carbondioxide volume (EtCO2), were recorded in every 5 minutes. Infusion was discontinued at the 60. minute. Total amount of administered drug, recovery score and time were recorded. The recorded data were compared statistically for significant signs. Results: P and KP have had an enhancing effect on IOP. The P decreased the HR and MAP values, while the K increasing the HR and MAP. The body temperature decreased in all groups. The lowest respiratory depression was observed at the KP 1:2 and KP1:3 groups. All anesthesic regimens reduced the level of SpO2 and increased the amount of EtCO2. The wake-up time was directly proportional to the amount of K. Conclusion: Since the central nervous system was not adequately distressed, the combination of KP 1:3 was not an appropriate choice for surgical interventions. Compared with KP 1:1, KP 1:2 and Propofol anesthesia groups, where pedal and palpebral reflexes were not observed, the most ideal combination is KP 1:2. KP 1:2, with the lowest increase in the level of the IOP, the lowest level of difference in HR, the less amount of depression in RR, the less change in MAP, the lowest level of difference in SpO2, the less amount of EtCO2, is the less contraindicated combination in dogs.
