The examination of the bridge employment case: A meta-analysis study

Abstract (EN)

In this study bridge employment which means working in part-time, full-time, self employment and phased retirement conditions instead of abandoning working life examined. It is called bridge employment for it reflects transition between career employment and retirement. Before describing bridge employment, first ageing and retirement were being held because of relationship between them. And then meta-analysis executed. The research questions were (1) Does the leaving from career employment to continue working life by means of transition to bridge employment have an impact on workers? If there is, what is its way? (2) How big is the effect on the subgroups of ?health?, ?income? and ?training and self-improvement?? 420 thesis and 93 articles examined. Yet 9 of them were eligible for being added to the study. From whole studies 26 effect sizes were chosen.As a result of the study, main effect size (ES++) calculated 0,2551. According to Cohen this is small scale and its way is positive. It means instead of leaving from working life completely, transition to bridge employment is better and positive on ?training and self-improvement?, ?health? and ?income? consecutively.
