ABSTRACTTHE EFFECTS OF CREATIN LOADINGON RUNNING PERFORMANCE OF VARIOUS DISTANCESOzdemir, OsmanMS, Education of TrainingAdvisor: Assist. Prof. Dr. Bekir YUKTASIRSeptember- 2006, 89 pagesThe purpose of this study is to determine the effects of 20 gr/day creatinloading, in a duration of one week, on running performance of various distances.Twenty-three male physical education students, aged 22 + 1.0, years oldvoluntarily participated in the study. The running performance of these participantswere measured, in 6x60 meters distances, by measuring their average heart ratesbefore the run (PRHR), right after the run (PSHR) and during recovery phase (RHR)using photocell and polar heart rate equipments. Wilcoxon and Kruskal-Wallistechniques were employed to analyze the data(p < 0.01).The result of the study indicated that the control groups taking creatin orplacebo, observed within the boundaries of study?s parameters (running distance, initial average heart rate, final average heart rate and recovering heart rate) showedstatistically decrease in running speeds(z: -2.70 ) (p<0.01).The findings, therefore, pointed out that creatin loading of 20 gr per day, in aduration of one week, showed statistically differences in running performance ofmale physical education students 22 years of age. The study also demonstrated thatcreatin loading have had no effects whatsoever on initial average heart rate, finalaverage heart rate and recovering heart rate.Key words: Ergogenic Support, Kreatiniii
