Abstract (EN)
In this thesis named Kyrgyz Turkish Vocabulary Related to Health, words related to health, which occupies an important place in Kyrgyz language, have been analysed under the comparative diachronical and synchronical method based on their sounds, forms, origins and meanings.This reserach has been undertaken with a view of finding out how preserved are the words related to health and which are not found in modern medical terminology but have been used since the period of Old Turkish Language and the borrowed health terms from Arabic, Persian and Mongolian, and by doing so to identify the formation and development process of Kyrgyz Turkish.This thesis consists of the following parts: Introduction, Analysis, Conclusion, List of Terms and References. The Introduction part comprises the theme, purpose and importance of the research, other researches related to the subject, methods utilised and information regarding limitations of this research. Moreover, general information has been provided on health-disease concepts, the place they occupy in Kyrgyz culture and Kyrgyz tragitional healing practices.Words related to health in Kyrgyz Language, which are the main theme of the research, have been looked into in the Analysis section. Health-related words in this section have been taken from the Kyrgyz-Russian Dictionary (Yudahin, 1985), Kyrgyz Language Thesaurus (Abduldayev, 1969), Borrowed Words (Karasayev, 1983) and The Dialectological Dictionary of the Kyrgyz Language (Mukambayev, 1976; 2009), the lexicographical sources which reflect the riches of the Kyrgyz vocabulary. The words that have been identified in those mentioned dictionaries have been analysed based on lexic and semantic proximity under the following subtitles: 1. Generic Health-related Words; 2. Words Related to Human Diseases; 3. Words Related to Animal Diseases; 4. Words That Reflect Health Disabilities, Handicaps; 5. Verbs Related to Health.
