The arrangement of crypto currencies: The example of the European Union

Abstract (EN)

The crypto money system that entered our lives with Satoshi Nakamoto's article on Bitcoin and has become widespread today; It generates revenue as a way to offer businesses and customers new payment methods, investment opportunities, and some are even designed to replace fiat currencies paid by governments. In the research, by expressing crypto currencies, it analyzes the economic potential and risks of crypto assets in financial context and in this context evaluates the requirements of the regulation of this system in the European Union. The different effects of the regulation of cryptocurrencies in the European Union are analyzed and policy recommendations are developed for their regulation. However, it addresses its relevance to illegal activities such as money laundering and financing of terrorism, ways of protecting consumers and investors, their impact on financial stability, taxation of crypto assets, and compliance of blockchain practices with the current legal framework. It has been investigated how the increasing interest with the global change created by highlighting the appropriate steps to be taken by the nations will affect the future of the market.
