BLOOD HORMONE PROFILE OF GHRELIN DURİNG FRACTURE RECOVERY PROCESS AND INVESTIGATION OF GHRELIN IN THE HUMAN BONE TISSUE WITH IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRYIncreasing the osteoblastic cell proliferation, differentation and growth hormone release and prevention of apoptosis are the known effects of the ghrelin. This study investigated for the role of ghrelin in fracture healing and whether the synthesis of ghrelin in bone tissue. Blood samples were obtained from group I (study group, surgery with fracture diagnosis) at preoperative and postoperative periods (1st, 10th and 60th postoperative days) with a total of four times and once from group II (control group). Femoral heads which exctracted from patients with femoral neck fracture treated by hip prosthesis were used for searching the ghrelin in bone tissue. Changing the ghrelin profile in the blood were studied by ELISA. Femoral heads were studied with immunohistochemical method.When we compared the acyl ghrelin levels with the control group, increased was observed after postoperative 1st day. Unacyl ghrelin levels were increased when compared with the control group, except the 10th postoperative day. Fracture union were observed in all cases in group I. Ghrelin synthesis in the bone tissue was not determined.As a result; we thougt that changing of acyl and unacyl ghrelin levels in blood may be additive effect on fracture healing by increasing the cell proliferation, preventing of apoptosis, antienflamatuar and antimicrobial effects and increasing the growth hormone release.Key words: Ghrelin, osteoblast, growth hormone, fracture healing, bone
