Abstract (EN)
The interaction of culture-space-architecture began to get importance in point of preservation of local identity. According to vernacular architecture and cultural heritage, Anatolia has rich sources. Especially in house design, the trails of Anatolian culture and lifestyle can be seen clearly. Rural settlements are the best examples of Anatolian culture by space organization and configuraiton characteristics. Modernism in Turkey signifies a new social and spatial period in the early 20th century. Within this period, it is possible to include the transformation of traditional forms in all spatial developments, and urban - rural areas. Social lifestyles constitute the first aspect of the transformation of traditional forms. However, its second aspect is the production process of traditional living spaces. In this study, these two aspects are evaluated by addressing them together with the changes related to rural life and rural housing areas.
