Abstract (EN)
The structures belonging to the local settlement are shaped by reflecting the nature, culture and social life of the region in which they are located. Local building types existing in rural settlements gain their own unique architectural identity with local solutions developed in line with regional conditions. Local buildings, which have unique features, can show regional differences in terms of construction techniques. Housing, which is a reflection of rural culture, is also important in terms of preserving local building identities as cultural heritage. With today's lifestyle and developing technology, loyalty to the 'local' is lost, and buildings are produced without considering local construction techniques and local materials. The aim of this study; The aim of this study is to present the rural housing types and construction techniques that are gradually disappearing in the Western Black Sea region, limited to the rural houses in the Alaplı district of Zonguldak province. With this study, it is aimed to raise awareness about the preservation of traditional structures, which are one of the most important elements of our architectural heritage and are facing extinction, and to document these structures by examining them in terms of material use and construction techniques, and to transfer them to future generations. For this purpose, traditional houses in the rural areas of Zonguldak Alaplı district, which have not been studied before, were determined as the study area and 20 houses in 8 villages of the county were examined.
