Abstract (EN)

In this study, convection heat transfer from aluminum foam blocks having pore density of 10, 20 and 40 PPI which were placed discretely inside a partially open test section was investigated experimentally. Air was used as a working fluid. Test section equipped with 3x3 discrete aluminum foam blocks was subjected to equal heat flux. The experimental study was conducted for Reynolds numbers of 3363-9743 and modified Grashof numbers of 1,2x106-7,5x106. The effect of Grashof number, Reynolds number and also pore density of the aluminum foams on the buoyancy-driven secondary flow was investigated. Also, results for with and without foam blocks are compared and it was determined that, using foam blocks improved the heat transfer by %192-262.
