Abstract (EN)

This research investigates effects of hybrid teaching approach that contains various teaching methods employed at different proportions, on students? academic achievement, retention, learning difficulties and misconceptions relating Uncertainty Principle of Quantum Physics.Hybrid teaching approach, employed in this work, consists of % 44 peer tutoring, % 26 group and class discussion, %26 problem solving within group, % 4 demonstration and finally homework containing problem construction and solving.Developed hybrid teaching approach was applied to one of the randomly selected groups, namely experimental group. Traditional methods, that contain lecturing and problem solving methods, were simultaneously employed to the control group students.Data of the research was collected by means of ?Classical Exam of Uncertainty Principle?, and ?Wave Packets and Uncertainty Principle Interview Forms?.Statistical analysis of the data clearly indicates that the hybrid teaching approach has significant advantages in terms of the academic achievement and retention compared with traditional teaching methods. Analysis of Interviews Outcomes indicates a clear decrease on learning difficulties and misconceptions concerning Uncertainty Principle.Erdoğan ÖZDEMİR, 2008
